About

Amy Hannah, 23-year-old photographer from Northern Ireland, has carved a unique path in the art world. Starting with a background in Moving Image Arts, she shifted her focus from filmmaking to photography, developing a keen eye for capturing moments through her lens.

In 2022, she graduated from Belfast School of Art (Ulster University) with a Bachelor of Arts With Honours Degree in Photography With Video. Her graduation marked the beginning of her professional journey, which quickly gained momentum when she was honoured with the 2022 Graduate Award by the University of Atypical. This accolade led to her first solo exhibition, ‘Epitaph,’ which was showcased as part of the Belfast Photo Festival's 2023 program under the theme of 'Journeys.'

Hannah draws inspiration from a diverse array of sources, including cinema, music, literature, and classical fine art. She skilfully incorporates the themes, framing, tropes, and staging from these influences into her photographic practice, creating a rich tapestry of visual narratives.

Her work predominantly features self-portrait photography, a choice driven by the autobiographical nature of her projects. By placing herself within the images, she effectively communicates personal stories and emotions, offering viewers an intimate glimpse into her artistic and personal journey.
